Fox Systems (FOX), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cognosante, has been awarded a contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to continue as the National Provider Identifier (NPI) Enumerator for the next five years. “This win is based upon the superior customer support our Customer Contact Center team provided over the past five years in support of CMS’ vital initiatives,” said Don Bruns, Fox Systems Program Director. The NPI is the single, unique national provider identifier mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for B2B and G2B Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for such functions as claims submission, remittances, eligibility and enrollment, referrals and authorizations. To date, over 3 million health care providers have been successfully enumerated and issued NPIs. Fox System’s NPI Enumerator operations will continue to be based out of its Fargo, North Dakota Customer Contact Center. Fox Systems’ team includes Noridian Administrative Services, a national Medicare contractor, which provides IT infrastructure and operational services.
