Fox Systems (FOX) has been awarded the contract to provide technical assistance to the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services in developing a State Medicaid HIT Plan (SMHP). The work has four primary objectives: 1) assess the Medicaid As-Is landscape, 2) develop the To-Be landscape, 3) develop an electronic health record (EHR) incentive program plan, and 4) develop the SMHP Roadmap based on the inputs from the previous three objectives, as well as draft an Implementation Advance Planning Document (IAPD).

Fox Systems (FOX) has been awarded the Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA) State Self-Assessment (SS-A) and Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Automated System Planning project for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance (DMMA). With tools and methodologies used for MITA assessments in 18 States, FOX will guide DMMA through both the MITA SS-A and procuring enhancements to its current MMIS. FOX’s work will incorporate the principles of both MITA and the new CMS MMIS Certification Toolkit.

Fox Systems Offers Clarification of Relationship with Fox Insurance Company (PDF version)
Fox Systems today issued a statement that it is not related to Fox Insurance Company. The Affiliated Fox Group, Inc. (AFGI), the former holding company for Fox Systems, sold all of its interests in Fox Insurance Company and its Part D contract with CMS, to Fox Rx, Inc., a New York based firm, in February 2006. Since this divestiture, Fox Systems has had no role for the provision of services under the Medicare Part D program, including any of the alleged program violations identified by CMS.

Fox Systems, a leader in Medicaid and HIPAA, and Cognosante, a leader in health information interoperability, today announced that the two companies have merged effective January 1, 2010. The combined company will be known as Cognosante, LLC, with Fox Systems operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cognosante.

Michele Kang, CEO for Cognosante, was recently elected to the Board of the California eHealth Collaborative (CAeHC), a community of health IT leaders working to establish widespread information exchange for California’s nearly 40 million residents. The Board in turn appointed Ms. Kang and Dr. Robert Cothren, also of Cognosante, as acting CEO and CTO for CAeHC.

Cognosante Wins Follow-On for Technical Assessment of THINC HEAL 5 and HEAL 1 Development
The Taconic Health Information Network and Community (THINC) Board of Directors contracted with Cognosante to perform a critical review of the technical development, integration, testing, and deployment processes and plans, including a review of system requirements, as part of developing the THINC HIE.
