September 2009—Cognosante Supports the California eHealth Collaborative
Michele Kang, CEO for Cognosante, was recently elected to the Board of the California eHealth Collaborative (CAeHC), a community of health IT leaders working to establish widespread information exchange for California’s nearly 40 million residents. The Board in turn appointed Ms. Kang and Dr. Robert Cothren, also of Cognosante, as acting CEO and CTO for CAeHC. CAeHC is assisting the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) with establishing governance for its statewide health information exchange, recommending technical and business approaches to statewide core and shared services, and supporting the development of strategic and operational plans in response to the State Cooperative Agreement program to establish statewide health information exchange, coming out of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) in response to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

August 2009—Cognosante Wins Follow-On for Technical Assessment of THINC HEAL 5 and HEAL 1 Development
The Taconic Health Information Network and Community (THINC) is undertaking an enhancement of the Hudson Valley Health Information Exchange (HVHIE) as part of a project partially funded by New York State through the HEAL NY Program. Using these funds, THINC is enhancing the existing HVHIE capabilities accordance with the SHIN-NY. The THINC Board of Directors contracted with Cognosante to perform a critical review of the technical development, integration, testing, and deployment processes and plans, including a review of system requirements, as part of developing the THINC HIE. This activity included a high-level technical assessment of the work plan for establishing the technical components of the THINC HIE.
