With nearly 30 years’ experience leading and developing finance, accounting, and business operations, Tom Hohman serves as Cognosante’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Before joining Cognosante in June 2015, Tom worked and consulted for a number of high-growth companies. He was the founding Chief Financial Officer of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), a $250M organization that grew from 30 employees to more than 600 employees during his five-year tenure. During this time, he developed the finance and operating infrastructure and internal controls to handle the organization’s rapid growth, and worked closely with the PCAOB board and the SEC to manage the company’s ongoing operations.
Tom also held CFO positions in a number of other growth companies, ranging from start-ups to those with $100M in revenue. He was also CFO and partner of a private venture capital firm with more than $200M in invested capital. He started his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP (now known as EY), where he worked in accounting and auditing, business development, and recruiting.
Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in accounting from the University of Richmond and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in finance from George Washington University. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
